The 2026 BMW i4 arrives with exactly what many drivers have been waiting for: more range, more power, and the same refined luxury that defines BMW’s identity. As BMW’s most accessible electric sedan, the i4 bridges the gap between traditional performance and modern sustainability. The latest update builds on its strengths, creating an EV that drives farther, performs better, and feels smarter than ever before.
The entry-level i4 eDrive40 now delivers over 300 miles on a single charge, with 18-inch wheels reaching an estimated 333 miles and 19-inch wheels achieving around 307 miles. These improvements come thanks to new silicon carbide inverters, which are more efficient and heat-resistant than traditional semiconductors. This efficiency allows longer drives without increasing battery size, helping to ease concerns about range while maintaining the sedan’s performance credentials.
Performance upgrades are equally impressive. The previous i4 M50 has been replaced by the M60, offering 510 horsepower in normal driving and up to 593 horsepower in its sportiest settings. This boost reduces the 0–60 mph sprint to just 3.6 seconds, making the i4 M60 one of BMW’s quickest electric models. Despite the added power, the M60 also gains extra range, with 19-inch wheels now delivering 278 miles and 20-inch wheels 232 miles. These improvements prove that electric performance can match the excitement of BMW’s traditional gas-powered sedans.

Charging convenience remains a strong feature. All i4 models use the same 83.4-kWh battery with 200-kW DC fast-charging capability, allowing 88 to 108 miles of range to be added in about ten minutes at a suitable charger. BMW also offers up to 1,000 kWh of complimentary charging through Electrify America for the first two years, adding value and flexibility for busy drivers.
Design and comfort enhancements further elevate the 2026 i4. A Seal & Drive tire kit is now standard, the Parking Assistant Professional package includes a Drive Recorder feature, and optional glass controls are available. The Shadowline package adds black mirror caps and M Sport brakes with blue calipers, catering to those who want a sportier look while keeping luxury and refinement intact.
Pricing starts at around $59,000 for the eDrive40 and near $71,000 for the M60. Considering its combination of performance, luxury, and advanced EV technology, the i4 positions itself as a strong alternative to pricier European rivals while offering more sophistication than some competitors.
With improved range, sharper performance, and refined luxury touches, the 2026 BMW i4 delivers a compelling reason to embrace electric driving without compromising on what makes BMW desirable. It’s not just an update—it’s a confident step forward for those who value performance, practicality, and prestige.
